Is my financial data secure with Harbor?+

Absolutely. Harbor uses bank-level 256-bit AES encryption for data at rest and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. Your information is stored in SOC 2-compliant data centers, and we never share your data with third parties. You can export or delete all your data at any time from your account settings.

Which payment platforms does Harbor integrate with?+

Harbor connects with Stripe, PayPal, and Square for payment processing and invoice collection. For bank transactions, we support Plaid-linked accounts from over 12,000 financial institutions, including major US and international banks. If your bank is not supported, you can upload statements in CSV, QFX, or OFX format.

Does Harbor prepare or file my taxes for me?+

Harbor prepares you for tax season but does not replace a qualified CPA. The Pro and Studio plans generate profit and loss statements, expense summaries, quarterly estimated tax worksheets, and 1099-NEC-ready reports that you can share directly with your accountant or import into tax filing software like TurboTax or TaxSlayer. Studio subscribers also get automated tax filing support for select states.

Is there a limit on how many invoices I can send?+

The Starter plan includes up to 10 invoices per month, which is plenty for freelancers just starting out or those with a few recurring clients. The Pro and Studio plans remove this limit entirely — send as many invoices as you need. All plans include recurring invoice scheduling and payment link generation.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?+

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings with no penalties. If you cancel mid-cycle, you will retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period. Your data is never deleted upon cancellation — you can re-subscribe and pick up where you left off. Need to downgrade from Pro to Starter? That is handled in one click.

Is there a mobile app?+

Harbor is a fully responsive web app that works beautifully on any device, but we do not currently offer native iOS or Android apps. You can add Harbor to your phone's home screen for a app-like experience, including receipt capture via your phone's camera. A native mobile app is on our roadmap for late 2025.

Can I share my Harbor account with my accountant?+

Yes. All plans let you grant read-only or read-write access to your accountant via a secure invite link. They will get their own login and see only what you authorize. Studio plans also support multi-seat team access, so you can collaborate with a bookkeeper or business partner in real time.

Does Harbor support multiple currencies?+

Multi-currency support is available on the Studio plan. You can invoice in over 30 currencies, track expenses in the local currency, and view consolidated reports in your base currency with real-time exchange rates. The Starter and Pro plans are single-currency (USD, CAD, GBP, EUR, or AUD — you pick at signup).

What happens to my data if I downgrade or cancel?+

Your data is never deleted. If you downgrade from Pro to Starter, your books remain intact but certain features (bank sync, unlimited invoices, custom templates) are paused until you upgrade again. If you cancel entirely, all your data stays on file for 12 months in case you return. You can export everything to CSV or PDF at any time, even after cancellation.

How does receipt scanning work?+

Upload a photo of any receipt from your phone or computer, and Harbor extracts the merchant, date, amount, and category using optical character recognition. The Pro plan includes unlimited scans; Starter is limited to 5 per month. Scanned receipts are stored securely and attached to the corresponding expense entry for tax-ready recordkeeping.
